Singaporean filmmaker and Managing Director of Yoywow Space, Edmund Ooi, said in an interview that the popularity of mini series is reshaping the global content creation ecosystem. He remarked, "Today, with just a smartphone, anyone can be a storyteller."

Ooi noted that in the past, producing films and TV series required high budgets and costly equipment, but the creative landscape has now changed dramatically. The low-cost, high-efficiency production model has made mini series creation far more accessible. He believes that in the future, mini series and social platforms will become even more intertwined, blurring the boundaries between individual creators and large studios. "Whether it's a company, an individual, or even a child—anyone can become a mini series creator," he said.

Ooi also pointed out that the mini series industry is still in its exploratory phase, with investors continuing to seek sustainable profit models. Once the industrial ecosystem matures, he believes mini series will become an indispensable part of the media industry.

Regarding the rise of artificial intelligence, Ooi said that while AI can mimic story structures, it struggles to evoke genuine emotion. "A robot can write a script, but creativity and emotion must still come from humans. The greatest challenge ahead is how to create works that truly resonate with the audience," he concluded.
