Dong Bei Shan Ye Gui Shi (Strange Tales from the Northeast Wilderness) Breaks New Ground in AI Short Drama Commercialization

Recently, a domestic, cinematic-quality AIGC vertical-screen short drama titled Dong Bei Shan Ye Gui Shi (Strange Tales from the Northeast Wilderness) has taken the internet by storm, becoming a phenomenon in the short drama market. Leveraging advanced AIGC technology, the series blends fantasy, suspense, and adventure. Through its dual narrative of "family guardianship" and "national righteousness," the series creates an audiovisual feast that combines cinematic quality with a deep national spirit. Within just 24 hours of its release on Douyin, the film surpassed 10 million views, sparking widespread discussion. More notably, the series transcended the traditional short drama audience demographics, attracting significant attention and discussion among urban white-collar workers, with viewership almost evenly split between men and women. This broad acceptance highlights the potential of high-quality AIGC content to break through audience segments and suggests that AI-driven short dramas can be more than just "visual spectacles lacking substantive content."

Cultural Tourism Mini Series Xiang Xi Na Ge Qiu Tian (That Autumn in Western Hunan) and Dong Lai Yi Mo Xi Qian Nian (Winter's Ink, a Millennium Bond) Begin Filming in Luxi

On the morning of November 26, a joint launch ceremony for two key Hunan-produced mini series— Xiang Xi Na Ge Qiu Tian (That Autumn in Western Hunan) and Dong Lai Yi Mo Xi Qian Nian (Winter's Ink, a Millennium Bond)—was held at the Shejiang Tower in Luxi County, Hunan Province. Xiang Xi Na Ge Qiu Tian employs a fantasy time-travel narrative to tell the touching story of Tan Qiuyan a Tujia girl who, in order to fulfill her grandmother's dying wish, accidentally travels through time. With the help of a "traditional culture rescue system," she works to preserve intangible cultural heritage skills such as Tujia brocade, Chenhe Gaoqiang opera, Tahu Zaohua (Tahu paper-cuts), and the Hand-Waving Dance. Dong Lai Yi Mo Xi Qian Nian is ingeniously designed and thematically rich, blending elements of time travel, suspense, and history. Using bamboo and silk calligraphy as the thread connecting past and present, the story follows actor Lin Yushi, who becomes embroiled in a public backlash after his unexpected rise to fame.

Urban Women Themed Mini Series Qi Zi De Fan Gong (Wife's Counterattack 2) Begins Filming

On November 21, the 20-episode urban mini series Qi Zi De Fan Gong (Wife's Counterattack 2) produced by Lei Qifei's Film Studio and starring Lei Qifei, Luo Yunxi (nicknamed Hong Kong "Little Wisteria"), Fu Lingyun, Han Xiaoxuan, and Zhou Qiqi, held its grand filming launch ceremony at Longjin Villa in Wangyue Village in Nanbu County,  Sichuan Province. As a continuation of the previous works Hei Se Man Tuo Luo (Black Mandala) and the first installment Qi Zi De Fan Gong (Wife's Counterattack), this series reunites the original talented creative team to deliver another premium urban women-themed production. Building on the success of its predecessor, the new installment aims to innovate in narrative pacing and character development, centering on contemporary women's journeys of self-redemption and mutual support amid marital struggles. Through authentic and nuanced storytelling, the series continues the legacy of its predecessor while championing themes of female solidarity, resilience, and empowerment.

Nanjing: The "Vertical-Screen Aesthetic" of Pukou's Mini Series

In developing its mini series industry chain, Pukou District, Nanjing City, skillfully combined "vertical-screen creation" with cultural tourism resources and rural revitalization, making mini series serve as both "rural promoters" and "tourism guides." Works such as Chu Que Wu Shan Bu Shi Yun (Beyond Mount Wu, No Clouds Compare) and Ao Jiao Cun Zhang Lai Zi Si Tan Fu (The Proud Village Chief from Stanford) seamlessly blend rural entrepreneurship stories with the beautiful scenery of Pukou. As viewers follow the updates, they are not only drawn to the plot, but also inspired by the villages shown in the stories.

Pukou has also formed a deep partnership with OMNIJOI Film & TV Group to jointly build an online mini series studio. Together, they have produced several high-quality works, including Po Xiao (Aurora's Inhale) and Shen Shou He Xing Ji (Mythical Canal). Shen Shou He Xing Ji was selected for the National Radio and Television Administration's "Travel with Mini Series" creation plan and won an Excellence Award at the International Mini Series Competition.
