Mini Series + Cultural Tourism Work Gu Dao Wei Lie (Island Hunt) Revives Regional Cultural Memory

On December 15, the premium mini series Gu Dao Wei Lie (Island Hunt) was officially released online, embarking on a new journey of "mini series + cultural tourism." The series actively responds to the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA)'s "Travel with Mini Series" creative initiative and represents a significant achievement of Migu Digital Media's "mini series+" strategy. Set against the backdrop of the former timber yard on Dazhou Island along the Min River in Fujian Province, the plot revolves around a smuggling case. The series skillfully and deeply integrates distinctive local elements of Yanping. Scenes of Min River shipping vividly depict local transportation, while traditional elements like the intangible cultural heritage "Fengzhou Inkstone," "Chayang Kiln," "Victory Drum," and folk symbols such as "Min-Yue Culture (Snake Worship)" not only enrich the plot but also recreate the collective memory of state-owned enterprise residential areas from the 1990s.

Previously, Migu Digital Media actively responded to the NRTA's "Travel with Mini Series" initiative, building a "mini series +" matrix and producing a series of premium cultural tourism mini series like Wo You Yi Zuo Bao Zang Wu (I Have a Treasure House) and Fu Shan Hai Zhi Yue Yi Qian Nian (A Date with Mountains and Seas for Eons). Several of these works have been selected for national and provincial "Travel with Mini Series" recommended lists due to their outstanding quality. Beyond cultural tourism themes, Migu Digital Media continues to explore integrated development across genres. In the "mini series + War of Resistance" category, it has released works like Lou Wai Qiang Sheng (Gunshots Outside the Building) and Wu Sheng De Shi Yan (Silent Oath). In the "mini series + intangible cultural heritage" area, works such as Dong Nan Zhi (Southeast Branch) and Xi Bi Tian Da (The Show is Supreme), portray the cultural perseverance of a changing era through the perspectives of ordinary individuals, opening new pathways for the preservation and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage.

Shaoxing Mini Series Ke Guan Qing Shang Zuo (Misty Rain Jiangnan Drunk Shaoxing) Premieres on CCTV Starting December 16

Starting December 16, Ke Guan Qing Shang Zuo (Misty Rain Jiangnan Drunk Shaoxing), the first mini series to be broadcast on a national television platform, will air for four consecutive days on CCTV-11. This work, originating from Shaoxing and filmed entirely on location, was previously selected for the NRTA's "Travel with Mini Series" recommended list and received key promotion from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, emerging as a standout representative of Zhejiang-produced mini series.

The series deeply integrates regional cultural elements like the charm of Shaoxing's ancient city, Chinese Huangjiu (yellow wine) culture, Yue Opera vocal styles, and Wupeng boats. Using Huangjiu Town and the Mausoleum of Yu the Great as its primary settings, it connects urban characteristics through a lighthearted and humorous narrative, allowing audiences to experience the charm of the millennium-old ancient city through laughter. As of December 8, the series' cumulative online view counts surpassed 5.062 million, with its Maoyan real-time popularity index heat score of 1389.92, ranking fifth on the comedy mini series popularity rankings for the second-half of 2025 and emerging as a breakout cultural tourism hit in the annual mini series market.

Its broadcast on CCTV's Opera Channel represents high recognition of the series' ideological value, artistic merit, and communication value. As an important window for promoting China's outstanding traditional culture, airing on CCTV-11 marks that the innovative "mini series + cultural tourism" model has progressed from early experimentation to a new form of cultural expression endorsed by mainstream media. From a locally produced original work to nationwide exposure, and from selection for national-level projects to its debut on CCTV, Ke Guan Qing Shang Zuo step by step exemplifies the creative philosophy of "low budget, deep emotion, positive values," showcasing the unique charm of Shaoxing stories.

National-Level Science Popularization Mini Series Yun Duan Zhu Lu Zhe (Builders of the Cloudway) Premieres on "Science China" Platform

Recently, Yun Duan Zhu Lu Zhe (Builders of the Cloudway), a national-level science popularization mini series undertaken for the first time by the Nanjing Film Association, premiered online on the "China Science Communication" platform and will also be released on mainstream online platforms like Douyin and Hongguo. The series focuses on China's domestically developed flying cars. The team led by Jiang Yuan (played by Zhu Hao) faces intellectual property theft and sabotage by Dome Technology. Drawing inspiration from natural wisdom like mortise-and-tenon structures and the collective behavior of bird flocks, they overcome technical challenges such as redundant systems and bionic algorithms, ultimately achieving a technological breakthrough with the safe and intelligent "Cloud Wing," showcasing the strength of China's intelligent manufacturing and its commitment of independent research and development.

The greatest highlight of Yun Duan Zhu Lu Zhe lies in the deep integration of cutting-edge technology and cinematic storytelling. The series received full support from Qiyuan Technology, founded by graduates of Southeast University's School of Architecture, School of Arts, and School of Computer Science. The team is proficient in XR/AR virtual livestreaming, AI digital humans, and moco robotic arm systems, enabling end-to-end implementation from metaverse scene design to hyper-realistic digital human production. The plot is based on the technological prototype of Southeast University's "Kunpeng-1" flying car research team, integrating abstract scientific knowledge into a futuristic narrative, blending science communication with humanistic expression. Through a combination of physical set construction, virtual filming techniques, and AIGC-assisted production, the once-imaginary sci-fi scene of "building roads in the clouds" can now be straightly presented on the screen, highlighting the technological capabilities of Nanjing's film and television industry.

Wang Yangming "Travels Through Time" to Guide Today's Youth, Mini Series Xin Zhong Zhi Shi (Master In My Heart) Launches

On December 15, the mini series Xin Zhong Zhi Shi (Master In My Heart), which focuses on Yangming culture and directly addresses the growing pains of contemporary youth,  was officially released on platforms such as Hongguo app and TikTok, with an English version also launched, creating a bridge for the cross-cultural communication of Yangming culture. The series centers on the theme "How can college students overcome confusion and anchor their life direction?" with a light, fantastical narrative that unfolds a youth story connecting the ancient and modern. Using Wang Yangming's philosophy of "the mind is principle," "achieving knowledge and conscience," and "the unity of knowledge and action", the series offers solutions to the growth challenges faced by today's youth. To fully immerse viewers in Yangming culture, the mini series was filmed in Yuyao, with iconic locations such as Wang Yangming's former residence and Yangming Ancient Town featured prominently.

The director, Zhu Yuting, a native of Yuyao, hopes to bring Yangming culture "to life" through her expertise in visual storytelling. Zhu said that increasing public interest in Yangming culture in recent years has reinforced her belief that using youthful and lighter narrative approaches to convey traditional culture can resonate with a wider audience. Previously, Zhu Yuting directed the Yuyao-themed culture-and-tourism short drama Xin Dong Yu Yao (Heartfelt in Yuyao), which received positive feedback, boosting her confidence for this new creation. In her view, promoting cultural communication through film and television works is a vivid and effective approach.

A Mini Series from Maoming Unlocks the Dual Boost of "Industry + Rural Revitalization"

On December 15, the launch ceremony of the key cultural project Follow Mini Series to Discover Maoming—A Young Man from Northeast China Ventures into Lychee Town was held in Tandi Village, Gaozhou. This 12-episode mini series, jointly produced by Maoming Radio and Television Station and Guangdong Preschool Normal College in Maoming, adopts a lightweight 5-minute per episode format. The story follows the entrepreneurial journey of a young man from Northeast China who starts a business in Maoming, using his story as a thread to connect the thriving industries of Maoming, particularly the "Five Trees and One Fish" unique industries. As the story unfolds, the series takes viewers through Maoming's natural scenery and offers an intuitive look at the lively practice of rural revitalization under the "High-Quality Development Project in Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns, and Ten Thousand Villages."

Behind the popularity of the series is a well-developed ecosystem and promising prospects of mini series industry in Maoming. In recent years, the city has systematically built a full industry chain for mini series production. In Gaozhou, since the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (Maoming) Three Rural Issues Short Dramas Filming and Creation Cooperation Zone" was established in Tandi Village, nearly 200 external production teams have been hosted, resulting in more than 100 works, including Li Xiang Xin Meng (New Dreams in Lychee Town) and Ku Jin Gan Lai Yu Jian Li (After Hardship Comes Sweetness: Meeting Lychee), with total online views exceeding 10 million.

The  short drama economy not only provides local villagers with job opportunities but has also given rise to development of new industries, such as production services for film crews, extras training, and promotion. It has become a new engine for rural revitalization and an important approach to integrating agriculture, culture, and tourism, creating a new "media +" path to support the "Hundreds, Thousands, and Ten Thousands Project." Maoming plans to take the popularity of this series as an opportunity to further deepen the integration of "mini series + culture and tourism + e-commerce." With the achievements of the "Hundreds, Thousands, and Ten Thousands Project," the aim is to showcase more of the rural beauty, traditional craftsmanship, and distinctive local products, turning small screens into dynamic windows that showcase Maoming's ecological beauty, industrial vitality, and cultural warmth.

Douyin Group's Short Drama Copyright Center Leverages A Set of Incentive Measures to Drive High-Quality Content

Recently, the establishment of the Short Drama Copyright Center by Douyin Group and its series of incentive policies have driven the short drama industry toward standardization and professionalization. The core goal of the center is to address long-standing issues of fragmented channels and inefficient collaboration within the short drama industry. It aims to build a unified service platform that integrates resource from Douyin, Hongguo, and other channels, achieving "one-stop" services for registration, signing contracts, data review, and settlement with withdrawal options. Its "one cooperation, multi-channel distribution" model offers producers a more predictable revenue path, efficiently lowering market risks. In the past six months, the Short Drama Copyright Center has rolled out full-chain support programs such as the "Wanxiang Short Dramas Plan" and the "Incentive Policies for High-Quality Animated Short Dramas," opening up an extensive IP library from Tomato Novel for adaptations without minimum guarantee fees. The center supports high-quality creations from four key dimensions—funding, IP, traffic, and data—ensuring solid backing for creative projects.

The focused and targeted incentive policies focus on three main areas: offering million-yuan guarantees to support high-quality production teams, encouraging diverse topics such as intangible cultural heritage and classical culture themes to break away from content homogenization, and introducing expertises from traditional film and television through the "Growth Plan." Looking ahead, the Douyin Group Short Drama Copyright Center aims to build a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable ecosystems for short dramas with all partners, ensuring that short dramas become a trendy and been taken seriously content form.
