Wuxi's First Medical Science Mini Series Shui Hu Yi Tu Goes Online
Starting January 9, Wuxi's first medical science mini series, Shui Hu Yi Tu (All Men Are Brothers: A Medical Journey), officially went online. Adopting an innovative blend of "time travel + light comedy + hard science," the series invites audiences on a New Year health journey that combines entertainment with practical knowledge.
The story follows Wu Yi, a medical intern who, after developing post-traumatic stress disorder, unexpectedly becomes bound to the "All Men's Medical Journey System" and travels back in time to Liangshan Marsh. There, she uses modern medical knowledge to save lives and heal the wounded, while also mentoring An Daoquan into a "second-generation miracle doctor" of Liangshan. In the process of rescuing the heroes, Wu Yi herself grows from an intern into a calm and resolute "Doctor Wu," completing a journey of self-redemption and a return to her original calling as a physician.
Breaking away from the didactic tone of traditional science popularization, the series grounds its medical knowledge in everyday life, achieving an approach that is both entertaining and practical. Common health issues—such as managing fever or preventing cervical spondylosis—are seamlessly woven into the storyline. A team of renowned physicians from multiple hospital departments also appears on screen to break down professional medical principles, enabling viewers to easily master useful health skills.
The launch of the series represents an innovative step by Wuxi People's Hospital, affiliated with Nanjing Medical University, in the field of health communication. By partnering with authoritative local media outlets such as Wuxi News and Wuxi Radio and Television, the hospital has built a communication system that integrates a "new media matrix" with local mainstream media—precisely connecting top-tier hospital expertise with the public's health needs.
Ganzi Prefecture's First Locally Produced Mini Series Yi Luo Zhi Jing (The Lost Realm) Premieres on January 10
On January 10, Yi Luo Zhi Jing (The Lost Realm), the first locally produced mini series from Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, premiered on platforms including Douyin. The series spans 107 episodes and follows a fantasy journey centered on Lama, a "girl of mixed blood," as she searches for lotus petals.
Directed, written, and performed entirely by local creators from Ganzi, the production reflects a grassroots creative effort. While the non-professional cast required repeated refinement in performance, this local exploration lends the series an unpolished yet vivid sense of place, fully showcasing the authentic character of Ganzi.
Produced in response to the national initiative "Travel with Mini Series," the series adopts a "fantasy + cultural tourism" model that balances storytelling with promotional value. The creative team systematically integrated the landscapes, culture, and cuisine of Ganzi's counties into the narrative, linking distinctive local customs and deeper themes across different locations. In addition, spin-off episodes were developed for individual counties to highlight local traditions and agricultural specialties, forming a multidimensional promotion model of "series + derivatives."
The creators aim to develop the project into a Ganzi IP and a dynamic cultural calling card. By organically blending in-depth storytelling with regional scenery, the series seeks to immerse viewers in the narrative while inspiring a desire to visit Ganzi—thereby boosting local tourism and specialty agricultural industries and encouraging more people to explore, understand, and fall in love with Ganzi.
Mini Series Zhe Ge San Jie You Dian Niu Launched in Guangzhou
A new mini series inspired by Guangxi's iconic cultural figure Liu Sanjie, Zhe Ge San Jie You Dian Niu, was officially launched recently in Guangzhou, a core city of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. Bringing together film and television professionals, cultural scholars, industry experts, and media representatives from both Guangdong and Guangxi, the project marks a new stage in cross-regional audiovisual cooperation between the two provinces and opens up fresh possibilities for the innovative dissemination of traditional cultural IPs in the era of mini series.
At the launch event, the production team also announced a global casting call for "a new Liu Sanjie," aiming to shape a contemporary image that aligns with modern aesthetics while embodying cultural confidence.
Breaking away from conventional narrative frameworks, Zhe Ge San Jie You Dian Niu adopts a lively and fast-paced mini series format. It weaves together themes of female growth, regional culture from Guangxi, and Zhuang ethnic mythology, creating a content system tailored to internet-based distribution. Embracing a "mini series + cultural tourism" model, the project seeks to convert online traffic into offline tourism, thereby supporting local economic development. The production also places strong emphasis on international communication. The School of Foreign Studies at Guangxi Minzu University will provide multilingual translation support to facilitate the drama's global outreach.
Jointly produced by multiple partners from Guangdong and Guangxi, the project establishes a cross-regional collaboration mechanism that integrates mainstream media promotion with academic and cultural expertise. Filming is set to begin soon in Guangxi and other locations. The series is expected to premiere in the second half of the year across major online platforms and television channels simultaneously, achieving a model of online–TV synergy with global release.
Mini Series Ni Ming Zhi Tu Kicks Off Filming in Xishuangbanna at the Start of 2026
January 11, the adrenaline-fueled border action web mini series Ni Ming Zhi Tu (Journey to Defy Destiny) officially began filming in Xishuangbanna, southwest China. Centered on the theme of "ordinary individuals defying fate and breaking through dead ends," the series blends gunfights, suspense, and personal growth, exploring deeper questions of justice and survival, loyalty and choice amid intense action and Southeast Asian–inspired settings.
Breaking away from mainstream market formulas, the story follows the growth trajectory of its male protagonist, Zhou Yan, focusing on how an ordinary man reconstructs himself in extreme circumstances and dares to fight back against destiny. Striking a careful balance between entertainment and values, the series delivers high-octane thrills while conveying a core message: even when trapped in the mud, one should never compromise with darkness.
Ni Ming Zhi Tu continues the narrative logic typical of male-oriented action dramas—fast pacing, intense conflict, and frequent twists—while weaving in psychological struggles and bonds of loyalty. On the production side, the series is shot entirely on location in Xishuangbanna, vividly recreating the region's distinctive Southeast Asian atmosphere. Settings such as mines, slums, luxury casinos, and tropical rainforests create striking visual contrasts.
The creative team behind the project is equally formidable. Director Wu Chengfeng and screenwriter Zhang Zhaozhe both bring experience from previous hit productions. The cast combines popularity with acting strength, with Ren Shihao and Wu Lingwei breaking out of their usual roles, supported by seasoned actors such as Zhao Qian, who help build a richly layered ensemble.
With the launch ceremony completed, Ni Ming Zhi Tu has officially entered production phase. Backed by a strong creative team and driven by innovative storytelling, the series is widely expected to become a standout title of 2026, breaking through industry constraints and igniting viewers' passion and emotional resonance.
